Q. Blender default output AVI settings won't play in Windows Media Player. What settings output well for WMP?
A: The following settings seem to work well (Summer 2007).
File Format MPEG
Encoding Format AVI
Codec MPEG-2
Audio Codec MP3
Q. Blender default output H.264 output won't play in Apple Quicktime.
H.264 playback of all "main" and "high" profiles don't all work in Quicktime.
A. Install the Perian plug-in for full H.264 support. Install XiphQT for Ogg format.
A. Output MP4 instead of AVI in Output panel.
Option 1:
Format dropdown: H.264
Encoding dropdown: MPEG-4
(This still gets wrapped inside a .AVI container.)
Option 2:
Output: H.264
Forma: Quicktime
Codec: H.264
Audio Codec: None or AC3.
Convert to mp4 container (should be lossless since codecs are not changed but copied):
ffmpeg -i INPUT.mov -vcodec copy -acodec copy OUTPUT.mp4
